Description

What this is — a machined brass fuel cap for a hurricane lantern. It replaces the original fuel cap on a Dietz 78 or a Feuerhand 276. The lantern itself is not included. You use your own lantern and swap the cap.

The face is engraved with a contour map, the kind you find on a topographic chart. The peak in the middle is the idea of a place you return to. We call it Mahoroba, an old Japanese word for the most beautiful place, the place you come home to.

There is a bearing pressed inside, so the cap spins freely once it is seated. Partly so you can stop the pattern wherever you like it. Partly because spinning it is simply satisfying, and we saw no reason to leave that out.

Details worth mentioning

  • Solid brass, machined at our shop in Kasugai, Japan.
  • The scalloped edge is cut, not knurled. Each wave is machined individually.
  • An O-ring seals against the tank, the same as the cap it replaces.
  • Made in small numbers. We are not set up for volume and never will be.

Compatibility

  • Dietz 78 or Feuerhand 276. Please select your model before adding to cart.
  • The lantern is not included.
  • For this English store, standard US shipping is included in the displayed USD price. Customs duties, import taxes, and carrier fees are not included.
