Goal Zero sells three lights called “Lighthouse Micro”, and a cover cut for one of them will not seat on the others. This guide tells you which light you have, which SAKAKI Gear cover fits it, what a cover changes (and what it does not), and how the cover goes on. If you only read one table, read the first one.

How to tell which light you have
- Look at the top cap. If there is a small flashlight lens and a “Flash” marking, you have the Micro Flash. This is the most common one sold in the last few years.
- Look for a USB output port. If the light has a USB-A port to charge your phone, and the body is noticeably longer, you have the Micro Charge. No SAKAKI Gear cover fits it.
- Neither? A plain lantern with only a charging port is the original Lighthouse Micro. Choose Hatenaki or the Hajimari Set.
The Micro and the Micro Flash share the same lantern body, which is why Hatenaki and Hajimari fit both. Akatsuki and Mikasa are cut around the Micro Flash specifically and the original Micro does not seat correctly in them, so please do not order those two for a standard Micro even though the bodies look alike.

Dimensions are assembled, with the light inside, and are approximate. Weights are for the brass version; Akatsuki’s anodized aluminum finishes are lighter.

Two SAKAKI Gear pieces are not Goal Zero covers at all: Kizashi is cut for the Ledlenser ML4, and Tamayura is a stand-alone oil lantern in the Akatsuki shape.
How the cover goes on
Akatsuki, the piece the series started with, is three machined parts: a top cap, the body, and a bottom ring with a screw thread. The Goal Zero light sits inside the body; the ring threads on underneath to hold it; the cap sits on top. There is no glue, no tape, and nothing is modified on the Goal Zero light, so it comes back out in the same condition it went in.
- Unscrew the bottom ring and lift off the top cap.
- Slide your Lighthouse Micro Flash into the body so the switch sits where the cover leaves it exposed.
- Thread the bottom ring back on until it stops. Hand-tight is correct; the threads are machined, not stamped, and do not need force.
- Place the cap. Check that the flashlight in the top cap is not blocked if you use it.
- Press the Goal Zero button. Power and dimming work with the cover on, so you never take it apart at the table. (This is the part of the design we have applied to patent.)
Hatenaki and Hajimari follow the same idea with different proportions. Mahoroba is the exception: it is a lantern body with two modes, and the Goal Zero light is only used in LED mode.
What is in the box
- Akatsuki: the cover (cap, body, ring), one orange inner tube, shipped in a dedicated case. The Goal Zero light is not included.
- Mikasa, Hatenaki: the cover, in its case. Light not included.
- Hajimari Set: the brass body with a Goal Zero Lighthouse Micro already installed. Ready to switch on.
- Mahoroba: the brass lantern and the oil burner kit. Goal Zero light not included.
The product page is always the final word on included items. If it does not say a Goal Zero unit is included, it is not.
What a cover changes, and what it does not
- Color: the inner tube turns the Micro’s cool white into a warm, flame-colored light. This is the change most people buy it for.
- Glare: the LED is hidden, so nobody across the table looks into it.
- Weight and stability: a brass cover adds 250 to 500 g. The lantern stops tipping on uneven tables, and it should hang from a ridgeline or a hook rather than a mesh loop.
- Brightness: it does not get brighter. A warm diffuser gives up some lumens; on a dinner table you will not miss them, in a tent you may want to run one setting higher.
- Heat: the Micro is an LED and runs cool, and the cover does not trap enough heat to matter. Mahoroba in oil mode is a real flame and is treated like any oil lamp.
- Charging: if you charge the light every night, taking the bottom ring off is a ten-second job.
Do not own a light yet?
Two paths. The Hajimari Set arrives with the light installed and is the simplest first purchase. Or buy a Lighthouse Micro Flash from goalzero.com, REI, or Amazon and add the cover you like; if you go this route, make sure the listing says Flash, since that is the model Akatsuki and Mikasa need.
Frequently asked questions
Will Akatsuki fit my original Lighthouse Micro if I leave the cap off?
No. Please choose Hatenaki or the Hajimari Set for the original Micro.
Does the cover work with the Micro Charge?
No. The Charge has a longer body with a USB output and does not fit any SAKAKI Gear cover.
Can I switch the light on and dim it with the cover installed?
Yes. The button stays exposed and the dimming steps work as normal.
Is the orange tube replaceable?
Yes. It is a separate part inside the body, and Akatsuki ships with one installed. Contact us if you need another.
Is the brass going to darken?
